"A live performance of Spacedog's latest set at the Blank Gallery, Brighton, June 2008. As seen at the Sanctuary, Brighton Festival Fringe, 2008. This number samples the Hammer classic The Devil Rides Out (1968), mixing it with Willow's Song from that other British occult classic The Wicker Man (Paul Giovanni, 1973). Mind control courtesy the hypnotic voice of the great Charles Gray. The very first sample is from a 1950s Parakeet training record.

The lineup: Jenny Angliss, Sarah Angliss, Mike Blow, Ben Kypreos and Colin Uttley.

For anyone interested in the technical details: The Hammer samples you are hearing are being scrubbed (i.e. speed controlled) live using the theremin. "This video tutorial will show you how to use a Rock Band drum kit to control the drums in Apple's GarageBand program. You can also do this with the Rock Band guitar. Since I might be a bit confusing in the video, here are the instructions.

To do this, you'll need:
-A Rock Band drum kit or a Rock Band guitar
-An Apple Macintosh with OS X 10.1 or later (I'm using 10.5.2, Leopard.)
-GarageBand for Mac OS X (I'm using GarageBand 08.)

1: Google "Gamepad Companion" (WITHOUT THE QUOTES). Click on the first link and download the software that's suitable for your operating system.

2: After installing Gamepad Companion, make sure the install was successful by opening System Preferences. There should be a Gamepad Companion button in the Other section.

3: Quit System Preferences and plug your Rock Band peripheral into your computer.

4: Relaunch System Preferences and open GarageBand. In System Preferences, open up the Gamepad Companion pane. In GarageBand, make a new track for either drums or guitar. Under Window, click Musical Typing.

5: By pressing stuff on your Rock Band instrument, Gamepad Companion says that you're pressing a certain button. In Musical Typing, make a note of the letters for the notes/sounds you want your instrument to play. Then, in Gamepad Companion, assign each button on your Rock Band instrument a key for Musical Typing. Keys can be assigned by clicking Single Key in the Action drop-down menu and pressing the key.

6: After your keys are assigned, press Start in Gamepad Companion. Go into GarageBand, make sure that Musical Typing is open, and mess around.

7: When you're done, click Stop in Gamepad Companion and quit System Preferences. It is now safe to unplug the Rock Band peripheral."

"A Max/MSP patch that takes data from a Wacom graphire 3 graphics tablet and transforms it into MIDI data.

The tablet's surface is split into eight areas.

Each area can send either MIDI note on / off information for a given pitch (where velocity is determined by the vertical position of the wacom in that area.

Or the are can send controller data - one controller for horizontal axis and one for vertical, per area. There are two such banks that can be chosen by pressing or depressing a certain button on the wacom pen. This makes for a total of 32 continuous controllers available by Wacom control.

Because of these controllers are very quick and easy to access, it makes exploring sonic elements very fluid. (if the controllers are mapped to appropriate effects parameters, as in the video).

An electroacoustic performance realized with PD. Two 6min audio tracks(each are my own works - recordings) are sliced - deconstructed and slices are arranged by their spectral stability(noisiness) from low to high. This arrangement is mapped to the graphics tablet. X axis has the first deconstructed and arranged track and Y axis has the other. I'm using the midi controller to control some parameters in the sampling engine which I've programmed in PD. I'm also doing some stuff with the buttons on the electronic pen. Software used:

* Pure Data - as the main programming environment
* GNU/Linux as the operating system(Ubuntu Feisty with low latency kernel, running jackd)
* Reaper - for the post effects(reverb and compression, whose parameters are controlled in realtime from my PD patch - thanks to wineasio!)
* MEAPsoft - for slicing the master tracks and getting the spectral stability info about each slice(the data is parsed and given to the PD patch)

The graphics tablet is a cheap UC-Logic tablet."

I wrote a little step sequencer for my jailbreaked iPod touch. (inspired by the awesome Monome 40h Controller) The sounds are quite crappy (also my chair sqeakks likke hell!!!), but you could do better sounds in SuperCollider or even trigger a Software/Hardware Synth/Samplers via MIDI.

I used SuperCollider as a programming language ( http://supercollider.sourceforge.net ) and the aka.iPhone Application ( http://www.iamas.ac.jp/~aka/iphone/ ).
